Node groups allow you to create groups of functional nodes. They can be simply categories, or groups can be functional (which are entities). The linked tutorial covers how to make category type node groups. Functional node groups are created by placing an entity under anther entity (as a child entity). Please see the Entities topic for more information on creating functional node groups. To create a category type node group, please follow the tutorial.
Step 1. Locate the List of Node Groups
Under the Setup tab select the Develop category. Under this category will be the Tabs and Folders node. Select from the list the tab that you would like to create a new node group under. Once the tab is selected, select the Node Group node. This will display a list of all node groups under the selected tab. This list will look similar to below.
Step 2. Select the New Button
Selecting the New button will begin the new node group wizard. The first step will look similar to below.
|Group Label||Enter a label that you would like to be shown on the UI. This should be a user friendly descriptive label.|
|Group Position||This drop-down will display all tabs and node groups already existing in the system. The new node group can be placed under any of these. Please select the tab or group you would like the new group to be placed under.|
|Role Permissions||This table will let you control which types of users will be able to see which node groups, and how they will be able to interact with them.
Entities - Now that you have a node group you can populate it with new entities. This will allow you to be able to store information under your new tabs. Entities are how you will be able to create functional nodes. Functional nodes are able to contain list, search and input forms. Follow the link for more information on creating new entities.
How to Create Node Groups - Node groups can be nested under each other. To place another group under the one you just created, simply follow the same tutorial again. When you reach the placement step, select the group you just created.
