Important: Before attempting to create your own reports, it is important to understand the BillingPlatform data model. This is meant for you to understand how data and entities are related to each other. Please use this model to reference the relationship between the entities in the system, and how that will reflect upon reporting. Please follow the link below to display the data model.

Reports and Charts
Reports are an integral part of knowing how your business runs, what sells the most, what brings in the most revenue, etcetera. Billing Platform implements a wide range of ready to use reports as well as a full suite of tools so you can build your own reports. This section serves as a directory for the different types of reports, how to build them, examples, and how to set your reports to run on a schedule.

Billing Platform allows the ability to create custom reports anywhere you like within the application. This can be a powerful feature if you need to have custom reports available to show you the data you need when you need it. Custom reports in Billing Platform are based upon the notion of "Entities". An entity can be thought of as a major subject in Billing Platform. E.g. All accounts lie under the ACCOUNT entity, and Service Points under the SERVICE_POINT entity. The first step in creating your new report should be to identify which entity you would like to base your new report on. While creating the report you will find that the fields will be available based upon the relationship entities have with each other. Going off the example from before, Accounts will have a relationship with Service Points as Accounts contain Service Points.

Important - Always choose the least granular entity. This means choose the least amount of detail you need. An example could be if you want to run a report on accounts, even though the invoice entity will encompass accounts, it would contain unnecessary data.

Types of Reports
BillingPlatform features three main types of reports, these report types are:

 

Type of Report Description
Tabular Report A tabular report shows information in an easy to read X-Y axis table. This is the most common type of report.
Summary Report Summary reports allow you to sum fields in subtotals and grand totals that will display in your report. An example could be totaling invoices for all accounts, but being able to see the total for each customer, as well as overall totals.
Pivot Report A pivot report allows you to summarize data based different fields. An example of this could be a pivot table to see invoice totals for all months of the year for all customers.

Related
Dashboards - Charts can be created from reports, these charts can be placed on the UI across the application for ease of use. This provides a quick glance at different metrics while navigating the application.
